First, the storage environment must meet the basic requirements of suitable temperature and humidity, and protection from light and contamination. Soft non-woven fabric or bubble wrap can be placed between layers to reduce friction and scratching that leads to pattern wear.


Cleaning and maintenance are essential steps before storage. After each use, the surface should be gently wiped with a clean, damp cloth to remove sweat, dust, or stains. For stubborn stains, a neutral detergent can be used for localized cleaning. Avoid using strong acids, strong bases, or organic solvents, as these may corrode the foam surface or dissolve the printed ink. After cleaning, ensure that the dice are completely dry before storing them. Residual moisture not only increases the risk of mold but may also freeze in low-temperature environments, damaging the material structure.

Regular inspection and preventive maintenance can significantly reduce the probability of accidental damage. It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the stored foam dice every one to two months, focusing on whether the edges are cracked, whether the surface is bubbling or delaminating, and whether the printed text is clear and complete. Minor wear and tear can be repaired by edge patching or repainting. Severely aged or structurally damaged dice should be discarded and replaced to avoid breakage or detachment during use, which could pose a safety hazard.


Furthermore, for foam dice that need to be stored for a long time or used seasonally, an appropriate amount of desiccant can be placed in the storage container and the opening sealed to further control humidity. If the storage environment experiences significant temperature fluctuations, shock-absorbing cushioning material should be wrapped around the container to reduce internal stress accumulation caused by thermal expansion and contraction.


Overall, the storage of foam dice is a systematic process that integrates environmental management, physical protection, and periodic maintenance. Only with appropriate temperature and humidity, scientific placement, thorough cleaning, and regular inspections can material aging be effectively delayed, and the appearance quality and structural integrity be maintained, thus providing continuous and reliable use for various applications such as education, activities, and displays.
